Member of the scientific committee of “GMO” and “Génoplante (plant genomics)” ANR programmes 2005-2007Associate Editor at Transgenic Research (2000-2010), Theoretical and Applied Genetics (2004-), Plant Molecular Biology (2006-) , RICE (2008-), and Plant Cell Reports (2008-) French representative at the Rice Genetics Cooperative and at the International Rice Functional Genomics Consortium.

Current research interests: Our research activities focus on the model cereal , Rice and aim at 1. manipulating somatic and meiotic recombination for homologous recombination-mediated precise genome engineering and editing and increasing or modifying the distribution of crossing overs. 2. deciphering the genetic and molecular control of root system architecture and anatomy for enhancing resource capture while avoiding mineral toxicities. We are also running the RicE FUnctional GEnomics platform (REFUGE) , the international hosting platform using rice as a model species for elucidating gene function.

Expertise of the laboratory: We have a recognized expertise in high throughput Agrobacterium-mediated transformation (Sallaud et al 2003), in insertional mutagenesis in rice (EU Commission funded Rice Transposon Mutagenesis (CT-97-2132) then Cereal Gene Tags (QLRT 2000 01453) (van Enckevort et al 2005) and French national genomics initiative, Génoplante (Sallaud et al 2004), for Ds and T-DNA libraries, respectively) and in the development of user’s friendly rice reverse genetics bioinformatics tools and platforms (eg Droc et al 2006). The Génoplante insertion line library encompasses 30,000 lines characterized by 25,000 and 18,000 T-DNA and Tos17 FSTs, respectively. Part of the library has been generated using a Gal4/VP16-UAS:gfp enhancer trap T-DNA which allow marking with gal4 and gfp specific cell types (Johnson et al 2005).
