the French International Centre of Research and Agronomy for Development, in the
Research Unit “Goods and Services of Tropical Forest Ecosystems”. He is
currently seconded to CIFOR (Center for International Forestry Research), in
Bogor, Indonesia. He will take the leadership of the forest Management and Development Group in ETH starting August, 1st, 2012.
His main focus is the interaction between public
policies, local practices and ecological dynamics. Based on the distribution of
biodiversity and the land use dynamics in forest and agroforest landscapes, he
analyses the drivers and strategies involved in the decision making processes
of the stakeholders, with tools such as companion modeling (ComMod). His
objective is to balance conservation and development through better public
policies taking into account local knowledge, constraints and opportunities.
He
has 12 years experience working in South and South East Asia. He is fluent in
French, Spanish and English.
